“The pieces I craft are votive obj ects. They are intended to allow the sacred to reenter our lives. Their purpose is ancient: communicating the inner turmoil and awe of awakened human souls for a world both sacred and amoral. Their creation process is modern: it seconds our contemporary taste for raw materials and unconventional techniques. I believe that our scientific view of the cosmos has no place for us today. If we cease to exist as a single, poignant human being, our universe will move on unscathed. Not a single ounce of meaning will be lost. And this terrifies us, because it removes all the meaning from our existences. To avoid this, ancient views of the cosmos, from past civilizations, always had a place for man.

We were part of a continuum, the natural world, the spiritual world and the gods all connected.”
